GLOBAL GRANT:
Humanitarian Assistance for Kidney Patients (Hakpa)
A Rotary Foundation Global Grant amounting to USD70,000, providing Humanitarian Assistance for Kidney Patients in Cagayan de Oro – a Rotary Dialysis Center that could cater to 768 – 1,920 Hemodialysis procedures per year. This project was made possible by the Rotary International Foundation, RI District 3870, our partner Clubs of RI District 3700 -- Deagu Suseong, RI District 3590 -- Jinju Sung, RI District 3730 -- Gangreung - Jungang and RI District -- 3730 Gangreung Baekilhong.

RC KALAYAAN CELEBRATES NATIONAL KIDNEY MONTH​
The Rotary Club of Kalayaan CDO and our HAKPA patients celebrated National Kidney Month at CUMC last June 26, 2024. An enlightening lecture on proper care of our kidneys was provided by select CUMC doctors. This was followed by heartwarming patients’ testimony on the services they have availed through CUMC and through Kalayaan’s HAKPA program. ​

GLOWFEST COLOR RUN
FOR A CAUSE!

GLOWFEST COLOR RUN is a joint project with SM City CDO UPTOWN and Circle Production Inc. This exciting event was not just about fitness and fun, it was also a chance to make a significant impact on the lives of hemodialysis patients. Over 500 registrants enjoyed family-friendly activities and entertainment comprised of a run course with inflatables, color blast, foam blast, and a rave party to cap the night.

Part of the proceeds from the Glowfest Color Run directly benefited Kalayaan’s HAKPA’s project recipients, helping to fund their hemodialysis procedures.​
HAKPa First anniversary and Grand Launch
The Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro District 3870 celebrated its first anniversary of “HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE for KIDNEY PATIENTS (HAKPa) last November 28, 2022. HAKPa is a Hemodialysis Facility and is located at the 7th Floor of the Capitol University Medical Center (CUMC), Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City. It is an approved grant funded by the Rotary International Global Grant Foundation with the enormous support from District 3700 Daegu Suseong, D3590 Jinju Sung, D3730 Gangreung-Jungang, D3730 Gangreung-Baekilhong and our very own District 3870. This project is also in partnership with Sesenio R. Rosales Kidney Institute of Capitol University Medical Center and the Northern Mindanao Medical Center.








To date a total of 31 beneficiaries have availed the dialysis procedures held twice or thrice a week. With 4 brand new dialysis machines our facility can accommodate and help more indigent or financially-challenged fellow Kagayanons.

In celebration of its first anniversary, a mass was celebrated by Fr. Robbie Sean SJ at our facility. After the mass, he went around and blessed the entire facility. This event was attended by some of the beneficiaries, fellow Kalayaans and the nurses and staff of CUMC. Hygiene kits and packed lunch boxes were distributed to the beneficiaries.

Listening to their journey and their thank you’s was indeed heartwarming. We continue to pray for their healing and hope that they will get through this.

ELECTRIFICATION OF
SITIO CAMANSI
One of the latest project the Club has done is the electrification project which will provide light soon to Sitio Camansi in Barangay FS Catanico, this City. This is made possible by a District Grant awarded to the Club.
Livelihood for HACI Women SKA OF ACTION
The Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro (RCK) was able to purchase and turnover to the women of HaCI Women Ska, 2 printers, 3 sewing machines, 1 paper cutter and bond papers, through the District Grant funding under PDG John Mark Sarraga.
HaCI (Handicapped’s Anchor is Christ, Inc) Women Ska is RCK’s Rotary Community Corps who is composed of persons with disability. Ms. Nova Naces accepted the donation on behalf of HaCI Women Ska Vice President Ms Stella Villadores.




DISTRICT RAIN WATER COLLECTION
This District Grant funded the construction of a rainwater collection system for the students of the Camansi Elementary School. This school caters to the Higaonon elementary and high school students. It is located in the hinterlands of FS Catanico, Cagayan de Oro City where water is scarce. The water collected can be used to flush their toilets and clean comfort rooms.
